Runner " hogging out" Q
What I am wondering is ............. anyone ever come across somebody who has ...... figured out the difference in keeping the plenum stock ..... vs siameseing it ....and the runners ..... then going into the base .....so many inches?
just curious .......... I am about to siamese the plenum now ..... and go from there ......... see I know doing this changes your powerband .......moves it up if anything by slowing the velocity. But ........ what I am REALLLY curious is would a near stock intake setup or hogged out setup compliment the operating area of a ZZ4 camshaft ?

madmax saw better power at higer RPM .Not much higher than stock though. The problem with the ZZ4 cam is that its designed for a very short runnered intake manifold and carb..The TPI plenum will still peak at 5000 (as opposed to 4500 w/ the non siamesed plenum/runner)when the cam likes to peak at 5500 on a 350 or bigger..No chip is gonna *** this.IMO get an FI grind instead

....so what makes it a FI grind .....duration ? LSA ? Definately not the lift . The cam swap is out ...... just had it put in . But What I wanted to do was shorten the runner area by grinding out the Edlebrock base I got ...... shortening the runner size there ...I am assumeing this would be makeing a " short" runner setup ..............no?
thanx for the info Daz .....I am going to bug Madmax

IMO it would still be way too long..You can gain a few by doing the runner mod but not worth to the wheels. But with an FI grind youre talking a few tenths. The usual TPI grinds are low duration and high lift. The duration relates closer to the RPM range hence the intake.Lower LS number also results in lower vacuum signals which also has a limit when it comes to TPI.Most of all there's more to a cam than the numbers that you see.Two cams can have the same specs but work differently.
