Recognize 845 HAZ - Georgia plate????
Hello,
I'm new to the forum and am now the proud owner of my first 3rd Gen, an 86 IROC. The plate listed above was in the back of the car; I was wondering if anyone in this forum recognised the plate, or if you guys could point me in the right direction to find out more info about my car. The last tag on it says it was registered in 1999.....
Thanx,
ThaFaz

Hi Acceld Z,
I got the car from a guy in Stevensville (outside of Toronto); I did the usual homework i.e. Carfax, VIN decoding, etc. but can't seem to find any additional info on the car.
What I was looking for is some history....there's a 350 under the hood (I think...the heads are marked 14102191 which check out as from a 350), so I wanted to know when/how/why it was done, as well as what else has been done.
Is there a local club for third gens? I know there are a bunch for Rustangs (Someone on this site called them 'ButtStanks'...was killing myself all night ;-))

There's a couple local clubs, but none that I know of for third gens specifically.
Toronto F-body Motorsports caters mostly to 4th gens, and requires a membership fee, IIRC.
Camaro Country F-body Group (www.ccfbg.com) requires no membership fee, and most members have 3rd gens.
Southern Ontario GM Motorsports (www.sogm.ca) is good too. Not just for F-bods.
www.mortec.com is a good resource if you want to check anymore of your casting numbers (ie block number).

As for factory options, U can run your RPO's through the decoder on this site. https://www.thirdgen.org/cgi-bin/rpo/index
Look on the back of the block on the driverside for the block # to confirm its a 350 and someone didnt just put them heads on your 305. yuk
If the heads match the motor then the oil dip stick will be on passenger side, the older blocks had the dipstick on the drivers side. (I could be backwards here, half asleep an try'n to remember)

Thanks for the plug Jon!
Now as far as info on the car. Try to contact the person you purchased it from, and see if he/she has any info for you?? If not, you may be out of luck as to how much you'll be able to find. Good luck with your search, and yes!! Welcome to the boards!!

Thanx for all the warm welcomes...
Hawk92z-TDZ:
I looked around the top side of the engine, and can't find the block stamp anywhere....the guy I got the car from found a '638' stamp somewhere, which points to a 350....no worries; I'm going to rip it apart over the winter, and the truth shall be revealed!!!!
Yes, I agree the heads suck; I saw someone in the thirdgen classifieds had a set for $25.....
Now, the million (or, more like $2k) question; I have budgeted $2k for rebuild/upgrades...how would you spend it? The girlfriend got me a subscription to chevyhighperformance, but I haven't got the first issue yet, so I have no clue what's out there.
Yes, I fully intend to get out to all the Ottawa car shows; I got the bug at the one in Orleans.
Once again, thanx all.
