sup guys..i am a bit worried about my Z. she looks perfect in every way inside and out with aftermark 17" rims and so on so a car thief would go for it(i would lol) and two cars in the past year have been stold from my parking area>a van and a mustang.
i have a new prestige alarm system and i put the sticker that says>this vik is protected by prestige security systems on the bottom left corner of the winshield. i also put a aftermarket scanner on my dash that indicates the car has a alarm and is on. plus when my face place is out there is a red light that blinks were the face plate would be. do u think this is enough to scare them away?? should i invest in one of those club things? also should i hook up the starter kill for the alarm?? i mean i figure they will disconect the alarm anyway if they are stealing it and would that not reactivate the starter??would it??
is there anything else i should do to make sure they dont think of stealing my baby??? oh ya and another thing i did i have a manual choke that i done use i dont even have the cable hooked up so u gotta gas u to get her up there or else she will die no what i mean...that gotta help!
i have so much invested into it i would never get it back..the thought just makes me want to stand by it and guard it lol.

A kill switch and The Club are cheap investments.

Neither will stop a professional if they want it.

i had my first Iroc stolen out of my underground lot in Ottawa. Any of the Ottawa boys know where Hetherington is, then theyll know what neighbourhood I'm talking about. Anyways, I got it back and had it fixed and put an alarm and club in it. I had a Diablo II alarm, with a starter kill and fuel cut off, and a club. I came out one morning two weeks after I got it back and found pieces of my pass. side lock on the ground again. I never got it back. The current Iroc has an alarm, very cheap one, it's mostly to scare away the wannabe's(when it works) with it's little red light.
Bottom line is if a professional wants your car, it's gone.
Keep good insurance.

If I am planning on leaving my car for a bit, as in days etc., I usually pull the coil wire, now if your car has the intergrated coil I would pull the connection from the dizzy. This will usually get them frustrated and they will give up, thinking the car doesnt' run. But like Cruzin Bruzin mentioned, if a pro wants it, it's gone. Lots of things you can do to scare off a thief mind you. Try parking it in a well lit area, never leave it in the same spot all the time. But all in all, like said, if they want it, they got it. Damn thiefs!!!

well ya i figure if a pro wants it they will take it but i'm talking about the avrage ones since theres nothing i can do about the pros except have good coverage. my alarm does have the starter kill feature, i just did not hook it up.. yet, do they really help?? i mean if someone is going to steal your car then they will have to disconnect the alarm right and by doing that the starter will will turn on and the kill starter would do nothing..right?? my alarm has code hopping tech so i'm not worried about them stealing my remot code so thats a big plus. do u think that with my choke not beeing hooked up is a good idea for protecting. they could not just start her up and take off because she will just die out>u have to gas it till shes worm. or when parking car overnight i could take off the throttel spring, would that work? so u guy do think i should get that club thing then?? oh also u know the sticker that says this car is protected by.. ect, should i put the other one on the bottom of the winshield on the passanger side also? i only have one on the driver side winshield.
thanks alot for answering all my questions.

Do what ya gotta do.
A Pro will steal it anyway.
An amateur or joyrider will be foiled.

The good thing is that an '83 Camaro is less of a target for pros ... so you have less to worry about from that end.

Just make sure your LED scanner light is visible and on at all times. Yes, hook up your starter kill. this should keep the average nighttime joyriding homo's at bay.

a quick solution is to put a switch in the headlight circuit, theives aren't looking for that and most cars are stolen at night so they become a target for cops as soon as they roll out with no lights. That's after they beat the other tricks lol
