3.73's wt my combo...should I???
I want to go with some 3.73's this year, does anyone think they will just slow the car down in the 1/4?? I am gonna port the crap out of the Super ram eventually!! I know a couple guys in here might be able to help me. My converter stall speed is about 2600 if that helps. I have searched, but it looks like some have good luck with the gearing, and some wont touch anything over 3.42?? HELP ME!!

If you currently have 3.23's then stick with that. I have 4.10's and will be switching to a 3.23 or 3.42. I'll go with whatever I can get cheaper.
You want 1st gear to have some use. You also want to be pulling through the meat of the powerband during a 1/4 mile. A 3.73 would probably have you pull through and past the sweet spot near the end of the run.

application? It depends on where (RPM)your engine is making the most power. You also want to cross the 1/4 right at the height of your powerband. If you cross at a too low of an RPM then you could go numerically higher.
If you want MPH @ the end, stick with what you have.
If you're after the fastest ET, go with a 3.73.
Basically if you're going to end up with a blower at some point, stick with your 3.42. The car will still ET well, and you'll have plenty of top end mph.

Althou switching to 3.73 will help the car launch and apply more of the engines powerband to the road surface, I can see by your 60ft times your problem is tires.
Get some tires that have traction and then you'll see the effect of more rear gearing.
Mickey Thompson has some nice ET street radial tires now that will get 'er to hook. dropping your 60ft time by over 1/2 a second to a 1.8 is not unreasonable. Of course that .5 sec reduction will also come right of the 1/4 et as well, maybe a little more.

Go for 3:73's. It will make a big difference for a 700. 3:42's are way to close to 3:23's to notice much of a difference. Plus you have to throw a few bucks into a gear swap so make it worth your while.
I pulled the 3:42's out of my 98 when it had less than 2K on it and put in a set of 4:10's Made a massive difference. Best bank for the buck there is. Auto cars do good with 3:73's.

I think I will just stick with the 3.23's for now. I have LCA's, relocation brackets, Spohn adj pan hard bar, I just need the adj. TQ arm next. I have good year eagle F1's and they suck serious ***!! I will be putting G-froce kd's on it this year (285's), they should stick alright.

I agree with F-Bird, get some tires on the thing first and see what it can really run.
What gear do you cross the finish line in? To know you have a matched set-up In the 1/4mile You should cross it at the end of your 1:1 ratio which in a 700R4 is 3rd. If your crossing in 4th(overdrive) then you need to drop down to a 3:08, if your crossing in 2nd then you got room to goto a 3:73, or if your crossing near the begining of 3rd then 3:42.
I got 3:42's in my car and I cross the line right before shifting into 5th, its a T-5 and the 1:1 is 4th gear on it. with the new set-up this year I'll be plopping in some 3:73's to match its new RPM range.
I got this info off a guy that owns his own performance shop, he looked at my dyno and told me when to shift even, when I went to the track next and shfted when he told me too I dropped my best time from 13.9 to 13.5 but my best 60' is still 2.198 so ya I need tires too for this year
