Cutsom Wheels/Silver Wheels, from Lant Insurance is your best bet. Very reasonable rates. I am not 100% sure if your 1991 will qualify, but worth looking into.

Car must be 15 years old to qualify with Lant Insurance, I cant wait :P
I Insure my 92 with ING facility, ya it costs more but the rates arnt tooooooo bad being as I my driving record isnt facility only the modified car is.
Plus I get the peace of mind I can do what ever I want to do ta my car, and I can drive it were and when I want.

Lant.
Costs about 450 per year with full coverage appraised at $17.5 not that I could ever sell it for that. Once the car is 25 years old in another 2 years the insurance rate will drop again.

I'm lucky..... I work for a bank that owns an insurance company, so when we go to put the Camaro on the road, it will cost about $480/yr with full coverage based on an estimated 15K appraisal. If it wasn't for that we would probably have to go with Lant... but I don't like the restrictions they have.. ie no driving to work ever.

The custom wheel plans are limited use: no trips to work, shopping malls, etc. etc. Apparently the only "valid" uses for the vehicle are car shows/events and Sunday drives. You also need to provide proof of insurance on another vehicle that is your daily driver (they do check this).
For a limited use vehicle- these types of plans are fine- I have one- but if you want to use the car for anything "normal" forget it.

My understanding is that you can use it as much as you want as long as you're not driving it to work or taking it to shopping malls neither of which I want to do with my car anyway.
They give you a letter explaining the restrictions and I didn't find it to be problematic for a car that I just drive when I feel like it. There was no mention of limiting use to car shows and/or driving it only on Sunday. If you wanted to take the car on a vacation you have to advise them and I'm not sure what happens after that - probably you pay a bit more for that specific period or whatever.
If it's ever written off or stolen the pay out is on the full appraised value. As Eric mentioned, you have to have a second car as daily.
For a car that's highly modded, would be difficult to insure through a regular insurance company and is not your primary source of transportation then the restrictions are not that big of an issue for me anyway.
Lant has a website or just call them. They are in Stouffville on Sandiford Drive which is in the same building where my dentist extracts money from insurance companies..lol

Paul, I have the Lant as well.
They basically say 'car related activities' only. And the 'not to work or shopping malls'.
You are allowed to take it for the weekend to a cottage or something, but not for 'extended vacations'.
I asked for specifics and was told that anything over a 4 day trip was considered more than a long weekend outing.
You can take it to anywhere you want, if you wan to go to the US, no problem at all. If you do want to go on extended vacations with the car, just call them and it costs about $100 extra for the coverage. Best of all it is FOR modified cars.
These guys have great service, it's all they do. Rods and old cars.
I've had it for 3 or 4 years after getting scared from stories on here about getting dropped (along with the house, regular car etc.) Try getting new coverage after that one! Have you guys not been asked the famous 'does your car have any performance modifications' by a regular insurance company?
Try and get the weasle to define what permormance modification is...
Has the exhaust been replaced Sir?
Yes.
Does it add any power to the car?
I don't know, will you pay for a dyno test?
A what Sir? f*$kheads!

About $450ish. Drops each year as well.
The coverage is for full year.
They won't renew/or will give you a hard time if you cancel and try to put it back on after the winter.

Anybody have the contact info for Lant? Or do I just go through my insurance broker?
My Buick isn't perfect but i'd like it insured for market value.
