Superchip vs hypertech vs any other brand
Which chip upgrade would you guys recommend using?
I hear superchips are good and so are hypertech, what can you guys advise getting or what do you have.
My setup is 87 T/A GTA 350 TPI with stock chip from 89 T/A for now.

Non of the above, get a custom chip if you actualy want any power gain's.
Example, if memory serve's me it was Stiffler at dyno day that dyno'd his 92 Z28 G92 5-Speed with the stock chip and with a Hypertechchip, he got a steller 1rwhp

With all of the people that mod differently year after year, maybe someones got some extra chip tunes they can give you that they used when they were close to stock?

If anything with most modified chips I hear they dont change any performance until you actually floor the gas however the superchips are constantly giving you the peak performance.
This is what I heard from people with superchips, after changing the chip back to stock and going for a run, theres a huge difference.
I dont have any feedback from the others.

I've used a few off the shelf pieces. ADS, Hypertech.
All they did was make the car back fire when coasting
what junk...

Not only that, maby it doesnt have much affect on our cars since we use a distributor which we can change the curb idle and our trans arent computerized.
On newer cars most things are controlled by computer so Im that will make a difference in performance.
Correct me if Im wrong, thats what Im assuming.

From what I have read there people on the ECM board have done some pretty good stuff burning their own tune. I am looking forward to getting into that stuff myself early this summer.
Otherwise I would focus on other upgrades like the CAI, exhaust, rockers and so on. Easy to do with a reasonable guarantee of SOTP improvement.
my .03 cents worth

Buy a "prominator" setup from one of the guys around here (check the TPI/TBI forums). Totally programmable by you with a laptop computer and some freeware, holds 2 or 3 different modes for different purposes (i.e. track vs. street vs. e-test). Used to run around $300.00
