Just stupid.
Anyone ever feel, that after doing a bunch of mods, that your car really isn't road worthy. I mean, it's loud, fast, and abnoxious (not exactly a grocery getter).
I've driven my car a total of half a dozen times this year. Sure, it's a stress reliever (nothing like the roar and rumble of a v8 under the pedal), but lately I feel it's better it does more sitting than rolling.
Tonight I drove around both city and highway on a 1/3 tank. I swear I probably didn't get any more than 50 kms??
I'm always worried about having that cruiser or radar gun pop out around the next corner. It seems everyone and their grandmother wants to take a pop at you when you're driving a third gen. Most of the time I have to refrain myself from easing into the throttle. Keeping from getting into sh*t seems harder and harder.......

My car's plenty "road worthy"- but everytime I drive it if I'm going less than 150km I feel like I'm not moving. So I a) get aggravated I can't do that and b) worry that if I go 10km/h over the speed limit some yahoo's going to pull me over.
How many times have I had my car out on the road the last two years? 6 times last year, twice so far this year.
Apparently the government's plan to kill the car hobby as we've known it has been working with me, and perhaps with you as well.

i use to feel the same way when i had the 327 in my car, it was quite loud with the dual exhaust, it was horrible on gas when i was running the demon carb, and it always seemed to attract a lot of attention.
I recently transplanted a stock tpi 350 back into it, and put hooker headers and a catback system on it. It took away a lot of the fun that i use to be able to have with the car, but i have enjoyed driving it this year a lot more than i have for a long time.

Yup...I feel your pain about having the car sit more that you drive it.
This year have had mine out once (ok 2x if you count shuffling it around inthe driveway)....my "worries" about the smog police seem to get worse and worse every year, maybe its because I am becomming somewhat "responsible"...lol.
Over the winter I am doing some work which should hopefully aleviate some of my concerns and I can start driving it without those sorts of worries.
Trust me I feel your pain!

Here in Florida, we get to drive all year. My car is my wife's daily driver and I have my fun on the weekends driving it. It was always in the back of my mind, when contemplating mods, not to get the car so fast that it was not practical for dd. But, then again, up to this point, I am not blowing anybody off the street with my current HP. It all depends on what you personally want to do with the car. Sure, you have to be concerned about speed traps, etc. but you had to know that going in. Right now, I am looking for mods that will get me faster, but also keep current the affordability of dd. I really enjoy the car since I purchased it and with the mods only gets more fun.

I get really pissed off driving my car because:
1. The roads are schit around the west end of toronto and driving here is an exercise in dodging pot holes.
2. The city is a schithole at it's best so there's nowhere to go unless you get out into the country.
3. Driving anywhere near the speed limit is frustrating and people are always in the way.
4. Did I mention that the city is a schithole..lol
5. Koni Yellows with a Prokit are a pain in the azz unless the roads are good.
I havn't driven the car much this year except to go to track events at Mosport.
I did one autocross last month and I'm not doing that again because it's hard on the car and frustrating as hell even on a long course.
Another thing that pisses me off is that for the money I spent on this car I could have picked up a decent race car after someone else had taken the hit on converting it.
So, this is the only place where I like driving the car:

Dude, Perhaps you could consider moving to another city that has better roads. Kind of a major alternative, but it doesn't sound like an auto enthusiast's area.

Yes, my GTA got to be that way. I got tired of driving it and spending money on it. It broke pretty often and wasn't very quick. I also barely fit in it.
I beat on my Buick mercilessly. It breaks too but I don't mind fixing it, I fit in it, and it gets close to 500kms to a tank of gas. I've made close to 30 track passes with the car this summer and I think I've learned a lot. It's also run .30 quicker than my GTA ever did with 1/10 of the $.
It's a shitbox with questionable build quality.......but I love it anyway.

I feel my car is pretty raunchy compared to most other 3rd gens around, but I'd have no problem driving it to work and back if i had to. streetability wise... well other than the exhaust being pretty low, it ripped around pretty good, could idle in traffic and not overheat, and I don't think anybody can beat how bad my gas mileage is lol, but i don't care, I wish I could have had it out this year. Considering I'll probably have to find an e-test for it next year, it may or may not come out next year either depending If I need/have to get an e-test.
Our car is pretty much right on the edge of being unstreetable.. (unless you talk to Carm!). The suspension is rock hard, the cam is pretty big... compression is approaching 11:1. I definitely would not want to drive it to work every day but for weekend cruizing it is not bad at all. I drove it from London to Brampton last weekend and got similar mileage to my GTP on the highway (city mileage is pretty terrible though).

I feel the same way. I started with a stock 78 Malibu that I wanted to put a nice 350 in. Now it has 3 inch duals with 2 chamber flowmasters,6 point cage etc.....goes low 11's and I can't go 10 miles in it without earplugs. Never mind I am always on edge driving it. So now it goes to the track 2-3 times a year and I drive my Iroc. The Iroc is fun but I want more power.....here we go again. I just got a set of headers for it so it begins. Maybe I can put the TPI in the Malibu to cruise while I do up the 'ROC.

Since I haven't posted in awhile on this board, but to Hawk, since getting the LS7 clutch for my car, if you manage to snag a 98+ T-56, my old flywheel is still in good shape.
I miss driving my third gen.
