305 ?

I'm new to this stuff, I bought a 1987 trans am replaced the 305 with a 327 TBI and a WC T5 . I love it.
my question is the 305 block code 14093627 worth rebuilding ? I have heads code 14101081. I've been told to put the heads on a 350. any thoughts would be great. Dan

Neither the block or the heads are worth alot as performance units. Sell them together to get maximum dollars out of it. Do you need heads for another 350 and don't want to spend any money? If no- then get rid of them they are a poor-man's higher-compression head on a 350- but aren't going to gain you anything else.

thank you

it's nice to get such a quick reply, But, I am that poor man, disabled vet, but thanks. I do have a 350 to put under those heads. I'm just looking for a cheap way to feel alive again, Dan

Properly ported, the 14101081 head works great on a 350. Search for posts from F-BIRD'88.

As for if a 305 is worth rebuilding - when given the choice between it or a 350 - I think the choice is up to you. The cost would be very close to the same.

I wouldn't spend money on a 305 unless there was no other choice or it was already some kind of screaming race motor.

If you are interested in getting rid of the 305, I am interested. I would like to have one if I ever want to put my car back to the orginal displacement for SCCA/NASA race rules. Are you in the GTA?

thanks
Steve

If I'd known that you wanted one I would have given you mine; it was low mileage too but it's gone to the dump now.
