ohh shiny

hey all, just going to inform third gener's on some wax info and tips. As for me, i have been in the detailing business for bout 7 years and currently am detail foreman err foreperson i guess u could say, anyways some interesting items may come up when going to get your wax/polish...carnauba or silicone? or semi synthetic? do not be fooled here, just because it says 100% Carnauba wax only implies that the carnauba added is 100% pure it does NOT mean its 100% carnauba!!!!! it would be about $100.00 for a bottle of wax that even had roughly 75% pure and added carnauba, it is derived from a leaf from a tree and is processed,.. to make the story short, it has a last time of about 2-3 months, but adds a hell of a deep shine. more of a deep, wet look. As for silicone etc., It lasts up to 3x longer but adds more of a "hard candy" look to it, not that its bad, just preference. oh, and paint sealants?? trust me, i dont care what car dealers tell yah, if you winter drive your baby,it will last 1 year, andwith it being so weak, it wont repell any stain or matter on your paint. As for dish soap, becareful, remember, its meant to cut grease off of your plates, so if you spent all saturday waxing your baby, and you wash her a few days later with dishsoap it's bye bye wax, you just officially stripped it all off. well, have fun , im located about 30 mins. north of toronto so i have an eye on those 3rd gens nearby, keep em shiny ladies n gents!

Re: ohh shiny

not a problem at all. all products i use are waterbased silicons btw, oil based such as armour all,etc have oil which can lead to eventual warping since the oil soaks into plastic, mine rather, sits ontop and water evapourates to leave shine.

Re: ohh shiny

yes, i do cut and polishes, i dont tend to do too many on newly painted cars other than add a sealant or claybar then sealant/wax. all depends on what you want and what im dealing with to get out, like overspray, swirlmarks,so called "spider webbing" etc. usually i charge a case of beer
as for the bikini question....i save that for my car.

Maybe I'll bring it up when it's done and let you look at it.

Thanks, Mark
