Looking for Floor parts
Hi All -
I know this may be a fruitless effort, but need to try. I am currently restoring an 86 L69 car.
Problem:
Front floor pans on both pass and driver side are pretty punk / soft with a few holes. Need to replace the material
Solutions:
I can replace the entire pans on both sidefront to rear - no problem - however, the pans are complete sections, which I dont need, and they are over $300 / side. hence after tax - its the best part of $700.00.
Options:
I can replace the pans no problem - for a price.
I can cut out the junk sections and re-fab a replacement.
Lastly, the preferred solution - for me - its to find a car that has decent floors, but has good floor sections, and use those to replace mine.
The sections that I am after is the section from where the seam is just below the front of the seat up to the firewall on both sides. This whole area is not junk, but would be the easiest to reinstall and keep clean. There is currently no interior in the car, and can take pictures for clarification if someone thinks they can help me out.....
Thanks for the effort guys and gals

Re: Looking for Floor parts
Are you sure you can only get full sides? Try the Paddock,Year One or even Ecklers. I know they had them for first gens but I am not sure about third gens. but it would be worth a shot.

I am goin through the same situation and you can only get half sections so I am replacing the entire floor in my 85 as there is no point in just doing sections. I believe in doing it once and that way its one less worry.

When you refer to only half sections, are you referring to half of car, or one half of one side. The best place I have found so far for quality and price on replacement sheet metal / body parts, is Cross Canada.

Do you have another source worth investigating, that may be a little cheaper with the same quality?

Re: Looking for Floor parts
One of the cheapest and closest to home that I found was part source at $362 a side. At least that was what the guy said last time I was in there.I know they are not cheap but just finding a place to order them isnt easy either.

3whiterag -
Thanks for the feedback - and appreciate the contact, however I am not sure how much good knowing a name will be for me in trying to target a cheaper alternative. However, if you were willing to help support some intial contact with your son, I would be more then happy to work in that nature.
6Six6 - as an alternative - this is something that I am going to do for sure, as I need to fix the problem with the floors. I know I have seen "group buys" before on other messge boards both related to auto parts purchase and otherwise. Maybe if there is enough interest, we could potentially get a better deal.
What are your thoughts? Do you know of anyone else that may be interested in such a thing? If you are, and 3whiterag does not believe that he can help us any further, then i can start a thread and see if there is any others who would be in support of such an item.

Re: Looking for Floor parts
I say start a thread as you never know what might happen. There could be tons of people that need new floors. I say go for it I just need them soon as I need to get a ton of stuff done on my car before May.

Re: Looking for Floor parts
I also need them very soon - I am at a snails pace until I get the floors replaced. This is the next "portion" I need completed, so I can put the carpet kit and original cage back in the car.....
I will start a thread. Worst case scenario - maybe we can get a little better deal even if there is only 2 of us.

Re: Looking for Floor parts
I have a parts car that you could have for $200 lol and Im not puttin 25year old metal in. That would be the dumbest thing to do. I will put in brand new metal ( floor pans ) and know that it will last 15 to 20 years again if properly mantained.
