Hey guys, just wanted to ask a quick question. What are the some of the best performance tires for the 88 Camaro?. I need 245/50r16 for front and 255/50r16 for rear. I just need some tire names and where I can get the tires in the GTA. I do not need racing slicks just something that should last me a few years and get solid traction and of course affordable.

Were do you live because i know someone who could get me some Falcon Z rated for $300 with alignment and balanced

 

ME personally I bought Falken zx912's in the same size that you need for 100.00 per tire mounted and balnced. I love them they are rated number 1 from consumer reports last year. and the are z rated to 145 mph i think. They stick like GLUE in the rain or sun. JR350tpi sounds like he has a great deal if its 300$ for all four. Good luck

 

Yea they do because he has it on some 18 from his cobra and costed him $350

falcon are bullshit tires thats why they are cheap. 255 bfg radial t/a give you performance for a street tire. if i had a choice i get radial t/a;s good for 5000km+ but prolly not looking for that much traction....

 

guess its a matter of opinion. and i guess consumer reports dont know squat.

 

My buddy has 255/50/16 Falcon tires on his 86 Z28 with a Dart headed 355 and 3200 stall and those tires perform great. That size tire seems to be harder to find nowadays.

 

so what do you want to do with them?
drive a lot with corners? lots of straight on driving? lots of city driving mostly low speed? weather conditions where you are - snow a lot, rain a lot, mostly dry? you have a lot of questions to think about before you find the BEST tire, because you need to know the best for what driving conditions.

 

Well basically just for cruising. The car does not come out in winter. Basically a summer car for just driving around and having fun and stuff. I am going to go with the Falken's as the majority of you advised. Thank you very much!

 

i personally think you will be happy with them. But Like Tony said its all on what kind of driving you do. Me I live in Florida so its COMPLETELY HOTT and dry. Or alot of rain. They do really well in the rain. To Me thats important. I dont have them on my 86 Iroc the Falkens that is. I had them on my blue 87 Iroc i had and loved them. I am currently running Yokohama avid v4s on mY 86 iroc. I like them as well and they are z rated and awesome in the rain.

Definatly BF Goodrich Radial T/A.. I have Michelin Pilot X's and I'm everywhere..

 

i like the kumho tires myself, great on dry and wet pavement, but not for snow

 

I used to run the Comp T/A's, Z rated. Loved them. BFG stopped making them for some strange reason.

Now I'm onto the G-Force Sports. They're nice, but I don't love them.

255/50/16 in back and 245/50/16 up front. Had 255's up front but rubbed too much.

Ottawa, so you know the weather...although with the Comp T/A's, I was definitely feathering the throttle in the rain.

 

IMHO , i have the BFG G Force Sport , i feel the best bang for the buck . good luck . BTW made in America , today it's important to buy stuff made at home .

I run Cooper Zeon Sport 245 50 16....great handling and price is good.

Doesn't the local club (ccfbg.com) have a tire sponsor you could get tires from at a discount?

 

Yokohama S-Drives are a great all around summer hi perf tire.

 

I have Comp T/A's in the rear and I hate them. I find they have no grip in rain or dry.

 

88Iroc have you checked out reviews and pricing at tirerack? Good source for selecting tires mainly for reviews and price comparisons as they are a US based company and as far as I know dont ship to Canada

 

Tirerack does ship to Canada, I have bought lots of tires from them, most recently a set of 4 Winter tires for my 300C, best price I could find here was $900 Canadian for the exact same tires that cost me $605 US shipped to my door, our dollar was at 96cents so I saved a bundle

Sometimes its cheaper to ship them up, sometimes it isnt, I always price check

They usualy only take 3 days to get here but have taken upto a full week before
