from my understanding it's legal as long as they don't catch you

That's kind of been the way I've allways looked at it too. I really have no idea though. I remember someone told me you needed a Hazmat license to carry it. That's probably crap though. It seems the OPP can nail you for just about anything these days

For what it's worth - a quick computer search indicates the following:

1. The words nitrous and oxide do not appear in the Highway Traffic Act;

2. There are no reported cases in Ontario which mention nitrous oxide in relation to the words motor or engine. That doesn't necessarilly mean that there aren't any but since the words don't appear in the Act it's reasonable to conclude that it's not a breach of the HTA to have nitrous on your car.

That leaves the the legislation which governs e-testing and I don't know which Act that is. If anyone knows - post it and I'll have a look at it.

I think NOS actually makes you burn cleaner... so I don't think emissions would be a problem

You are probably right about it burning cleaner but I'd still like to know the name of the legislation that governs e-testing because I want print out a copy of it.

As for nitrous - apparantly it's legal in Ontario as long as the tank is properly bolted down and you have a green sticker on your window to let the fire dept. know that there's an accelerant onboard.

The MTO is in charge of e-testing, you can get all the info you want from:

www.driveclean.com

So where do you get one of these green stickers?

Thanks for the driveclean site.

As for the green sticker. I don't know. Maybe it comes in the box when you buy the nitrous kit.

hell man if you be runnin' nitros you be breakin the speed laws ...or do you just use it for your 0-80 then shut her down. Dont worry about it push the button and blow by em. Besides if the bottles in the trunk they got to have a damn good reason to seach and if they ask just say no.Problem solved.
