I just bought a 1989 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am GTA thats in for a pretty extensive mechanical overhaul at Fireball Performance Automatics in Williamsburg Ontario. The engine has a few bolt on upgrades, an upgraded exhaust and brakes. Dont worry I plan on doing something about the spoiler, am thinking of putting an IROC spoiler on it.

Reason: another picture
Watched this car on Kijiji for the last few weeks, glad someone on here scooped it!
The car needed quite a bit of work and scared away a few buyers from what I understood. I got it for an OK price and it's being worked on right now, not great, just OK
Already have a swap lined up for the spoiler to get Firebird low-rise spoiler, will probably delete the third tail light, also have a paint shop lined up to colour match and spray it.. may go witth black since I have the strips on the front and nothing really black on the tail. WIll see what feels right when I get it. Another 1-2 weeks
It looks pretty clean in the pics at least! Have you checked the RPO's to make sure it's actually a GTA? Regardless, a stock spoiler and black center caps will instantly change that car. I hate that cowl hood too but that's just personal preference

Take a look in the center console, there should be a white sticker with all your codes on it. Y84 will be your confirmation of a GTA. Vin decoders and ownership papers just give whatever comes up under "Firebird" so they can't really be trusted. Regardless, looking forward to seeing what you do with her!
