2002 Gathering
2002 Gathering
Let's get on top of this early this year, so everyone has lots of time to plan.... so we don't get any excuses!
I propose Grand Bend Motorplex for May 2-4 weekend.
-There is a class for everyone who wants to race
-Usually have jet cars on a long week-end
-There is always a big concert on the Sunday
-Prime cruizing at the beach is 5km away
-It is a central location
-There is Camping Available (You can camp on the spectator side if you want to party or on the race side if you want go easy)
-If we get enough people interested, I'm sure I can get a group discount!
Last year none of the gatherings really materialized, so I want to make sure we get one together for this year!

GREAT PLACE to visit in high summer. I take the family there often for the beaches (Pinery, etc).
Last summer I was at Cayuga. This summer I plan on spending more time at Grand Bend so hope to see some of you guys there.

Sounds good to me, dunno about my wife (definitely not a car fanatic). She complains about how everything has to do with" MY CAR"
. Let me know what the cost is once you confirm the date. Hopefully my car will be ready to be shown.

If you decide to hit Mosport shoot me an e mail, I'm 15 minutes down the road from the track. I won't race the Iroc but I'll gladly be a spectator! I seen a race on Speedvision last night that had a bunch of 3rd gens in it. A newer style mustang ended up winning though.

This month's Hot Rod has about 10 pages dedicated to the Roush Mustang. $50k for that car ? Rolling junk waiting to self combust... but I digress.
Talk about Mosport, I attended a number of Players Challenge races during the 80s at Mosport and Shannonville. (Did any of you get to see any of these races ?)
I have a ton of pics as well. In fact A couple are at Shannonville (you could see the entire track from the stands) and I swear in one pic there are about 30-40 IROCs and GTAs filing down the track. What a sight ! It is enough to get any 3rd genner drooling.
There must be a way I can get some of these pics on this website ?
have a nice day,
Richard.

 OK, sounds like we have a decent amount of interest... and for the record, I plan on racing that week-end.... If anyone hasn't been to Grand Bend, it's one of the best summer spots in Ontario. For the family guys, there is tons of family oriented stuff to do, and if you don't wanna camp at the track... the pinery provincial park is the place to be. For Niagra guys, you're prolly looking at around 2 hours... but it's well worth it. I will be calling the track owner to discuss group discounts for our club.
This will be my first time on a 1/4 track, so I don't wanna hear any "I beat the moderator neener neener neener!" hahahaha

I gave up on trying to find them, I just bought new pieces. I believe one of the pushrods is in a bi-lateral orbit around the south pole. Rest assured my **** red seat owning friend, the GTA will run again. Oh yes, it will run, muhuhahahahahah....ahem.
I am interested but not sure about that weekend. I will be following this post. I would love to try some times on a track. Not sure about the camping bit. Are there any hotels near by?

It sounds like alot of fun, Ive never thought about racing my car before. It would be interesting to see what my car can do. I hope to have some mods done by then. I plan on installing a new Holley 650 carb, Accel super coil, wires, cap, rotor and platinum plugs. I would also like to add headers, maybe. I am going to try and keep that date open.

It's a good thing actually that I don't have money cause I'd do something stupid just to beat you guys! (got pure o2? - Just kidding)

No.... I meant pure o2... it's been done before... it's dangerous, but wicked fast. Not something I would ever seriously consider.
Garlits built an o2 car, but was too afraid to drive it (this is the guy that blew half his foot off with a clutch)
