And if slicks are'nt allowed at this ''king of the hill'' event, try a set of 90/10 ratio shocks and some good springs geared toward drag racing...or better yet, all of the above!

Try using very little preload on the convertor (only rev it too about 1000RPM) and then try to quickly ease into the throttle. It sounds stupid, but when you have as much torque as our cars do, just dropping your foot on the throttle as soon as that last yellow lights up will get you nothing but wheel spin every time. It takes a lot of practise and I'm still trying to perfect it. But the runs where I eased in just the right amount off the line netted me my best times.

Hope that helps.

Is your car an auto or manual? I launch my car by brake torquing at about 800 to 1000RPM (anything higher, and you just smoke your tires), then give her. The most effective tool is practice.

PS. Looks like someone can't wait for spring

I use nblanchard's technique..... and note, if you have a higher stall, you can launch from a higher RPM.

700R4, slow? I find that it is a pretty decent tranny. Maybe you need to get it rebuilt?
