Did you know about this -- is it TRUE ?!?!?!?
I was looking for info on Chevy 302s (yes I still want to swap my 305 for a 302) and came across this outrageous piece at http://www.chicagotribune.com/classi...46feb03.column ... I've cut it in below:
Q. Since Ford released a Bullitt Mustang last year, I'm wondering when they will come out with the optional 302 Chevy engine that was in the car in the movie? It was widely known at the time that the car used in the movie was Steve McQueen's personal car. He liked the styling of the Mustang, but he loved the Chevrolet 302 engine that came in the Z28. He had the Ford drivetrain torn out of the Rustang (excuse me--Mustang), and the Chevy drivetrain installed. So, since Ford decided to come out with a "commemorative" version of the Bullitt Mustang used in the movie, I figure they will be offering the Chevy engine as an option. When will this be available?

A. Ford offer a Chevy engine in the Bullitt Mustang? Probably any day now, don't you think? Oh, and you can now remove tongue from cheek. By the way, Bullitt was a limited-edition '01 model and only 6,500 were built and production halted.
[end]
This can't be true ? It is too good to be true ! If it is true I will be spending some time on some Ford sites firmly R U B B I N G it in.
Anyone hear about this before ?
RP.

"Did you know about this--is it true?!?!?!?
No,funny but no........The car was a 390 4V modified with rollcage, removed spoiler, foglight's and badges. As far as McQueen not liking Ford apparentely prior to his death he attempted to purchase the car from the current owner and was turned down.
Sorry about that Palric, but I wouldn't want you to go to the Ford sites to give them a hard time and have it blow up in your face . Everybody know's those Ford guy's have no sense of humour.

And ford guys always rub that in our face. The Vette motor (again according to Merc Canada) was a collaboration effort between GM Tonawanda and Merc Marine USA using GM build and MERC technology. They have nothing to do with Ford and are a WAS (Wholly Own Subsidiary) of Brunswick Global.
have a nice day,
