Pics of polished plenum
It took me about 2 hours to make it look like this, i started with 80 grit and ended up with 800 grit and used the mothers aluminum polish to clean it up. looks great! i also ported it for my slp runners and ported the whole plenum, car runs great now!

looks nice, a little more work and it will look like a mirror.
this is just an idea, but you might want to try different polishing compounds; mothers works, but there are better as well as mothers will haze quickly as well as fill in the metal with rezidue causing dullness........
try a company called wizards if you can get your hands on it. works wonders over mothers ten fold an leaves much less resude.....meaning less work and more shine.

thanks guys! yea, i want it to look like a mirror, i'll prolly finish it up some other time, but i'll look for that other polish. mothers is good, but it does seem like the residue is still on it sometimes and it dulls out really quick like dirt or somethign is sticking to it. thanks!:lala:

wow, that one came out great too! that must have taken forever, i just did the top of mine, all those spots on the sides and stuff had to be tough and take a while. i think i'm gonna try and get it even smother, thanks!
damn, mine took me a total of about 3 after it was all finished and i only did the top, the sides look like they would be a bastard to do. i guess it's worth it if you have the time, i definitely dont. keep up the good work

Tools to speed up the job - orbital sander, dremal, and the proper buffing wheel and compound.
This is the site I used to chose the right buffing equipment..

Wait until you start sanding the runners. The driver's side SLP runner casting SUCKS. I gave up and used a d/a sander on it.

I once polished a Mustang 5.0 stock upper intake to a mirror shine. After the powdercoating was removed, I started wiht 400 on a black & decker power sander. Then moved to 1000 wet. Then 1500 wet. then finished with 2000 wet. I had about 7 hours in it and most by hand except the initial 400 on the decker sander.
Looks great guys!

Nice photos and links here.
I was curious about wet sanding myself. Do you normally use oil? Or just water? I have heard that both work.

Looks good! I took mine right up to 1000 wet sand, then a 3 stages of buffing compounds, but I am going to finish it off with 1500 and 2000 wet micro. I will, by then have a total of 20 hours into the TB and the Plenum.. Now I need to buy a Vette Plenum extension and polish it to match...
here are some pics.

Hey cruzin, how did you paint your TB plate? i wana do the same, and have the letters a different color. how did you do it and are there any links to sites saying how to do it?

Basically I degreased it very well, gave it a light sand/scuff to give the primer something to stick too, then painted it. Once completely dried, I sanded the letters very carefully then gave it 3 or 4 coated of high heat ceramic clear coat. It is very easy to do really, just make sure it is clean and dry before you move on to the next step...

Actually the letters are not white..I just use a sanding block with 120 grit sand paper to scuff the paint off back to the aluminum finish. After I had the letters just right, I applied the clear coats.
I am more then happy to have helped anyone, if you have any other questions..just ask, if you can't or don't want to do it, I can do it for a small fee + shipping..I know alot of people will tackle this them selves, but it's what I do, so I thought I would offer my services too..
