that's the stock air intake system on my car. only the camaro's have the dual snorkel. i'm guessing the one on the firebird's like this one are a little less restrictive because it only has one air filter instead of two but i'm not sure. build you own kit with an open k&n or somethign or if you wanna spend some money, go with an slp cold air intake system for around $150. good luck!

They give you a lil more top end, it doesnt drop off as bad towards the top of your revs with these runners

well on the performance side i think they work great! i definitely noticed the top end increase and the low end seems to be better too. i heard that they take away from the low end but that doesnt seem like the case at all with mine. i like them a lot and i think they will work great on my new motor once i get it going. as far as the porting i did, i ported a lot behind the throttle body because that area seems to be restricted a lot and i had to port the runner holes out because my runners are siamesed now and other porting was done inside the whole plenum. probably picked up a few more horsepower from that job, seems to run great now! :lala:

TPI383, did your throttle body spacer add anything?

does anyone know if a tb spacer would even do anything on a tpi setup? i don't really think it would do much beside adding a little more velocity to the airflow, but the spacer would have to be pretty big i dont know......

i think that TB spacers are more for like TBI like a carb spacer.... i dunno i have seen it for stangs..... but i guess you will get the same effect from an air foil as from a tb spacer... but that nitrous plate look nice...i saw it in a 305 camaro over the weekend at a car show... if i didnt see it there i would of said the same thing you did....thats y i love this place!!! aight peace im gettin some sleep

back to the runner flow conversation...
The air path is like a hose. If you've got a 5/8" garden hose, and replace a section of it with 1.5" hose, the total flow is still going to suck. You have to replace the whole thing with 1.5" hose to get the most benefit. My point? Just replacing the runners won't do squat. If you don't port the plenum to match, you'll get zero gains. If you port the plenum, you'll still only get minimal gains. You'll realize their potential when you replace the baseplate and the exhaust manifolds.

Question

Which runners are larger?

SLP runners or the Runners that come with the Acell super ram kit?

Thanks. I am just wondering.:hail: :hail: :hail:

super ram runners are totally different. They're 1/2 the length. Not at all compatible with a stock TPI plenum.

I believe that the accel long tubes flow more air out of the box than the SLP runners, but I think the SLP runners may have more meat for additional porting.

i think i heard that the slp's are the largest, but maybe only because you can port them, i siamesed mine and ported the plenum.
