New Stealth Ram topic.....

Why has'nt anyone posted before & after Effects of the Stealth Ram intake swap?? It would seem that some of the earlier buyers of this product should have some seat time & info on how this product performs. I just ordered mine last week with the adj fuel rail kit (New part #534-186) & i was told I wont see it until the end of the month of MAY. I have my new heads & I want to just throw them on right now with the stock TPI stuff ! I would just like to know what real life expeirence to expect with this new intake mod.

I think there was a shortage on the fuel rail kits and people are waiting on them.

Yea, I'm still waiting on fuel rails. From what I've heard last week holley shipped out enough of the non-adj fuel rails to fill almost all the standing back orders, and any orders since then are on backorder agian with an ETA of late may. I ordered april 8th from summit so with any luck I'll have my rails soon and will do the install this weekend.

I have no idea when to expect these fuel rails. I've been getting conflicting information from various people at summit. I've been trying to acertain whether my order fell in the batch that will be shipped by the rails shipped out from holley this week, or if i'm going to be put into the group that will get filled by the rails that will be ready in 3-4 weeks. Summit apparantely can't tell me when my order will be filled, because it is propriatery information that they are not allowed to tell the customer. So far, the dates I've been given on the fuel rail shipping are: 5/1, 5/15, 5/25, 5/22, in that oder. I really can't wait another month to get this car on the road, If I had any idea it would take this long I'd have just stuck with the lt1 intake I'd been working on.

I've already got the manifold, I've had it installed for 2 weeks already.

If anyone has the fuel rail kit and hasnt gotten the manifold yet, or isnt going to be installing it for a while, please let me know via e-mail or PM, I'll buy it off you at a profit for you.

If I dont get anything by this weekend I'm probably going to take my tpi fuel rail and start cutting.

To expand on my plans for fuel rail modification, I'm thinking I could basically fill in the existing crossovers, tap the ends of the rail for whatever size NPT is most appropriate, and thread in hose barbs (90 degree angles hopefully) and use high pressure FI hose for the crossover. Then find an external regulator and plumb it up the same way as the stock setup, with fuel feeding in one rail, into the other, then the regultor restricting the return to the tank. Does anyone have a line on a regualtor that will do this for less then like $175 or so the aftermarket billet ones go for?

Is jb-weld ok to use on fuel system parts? Or do the rails need to be welded to fil them?

Also, am I correct in my understanding that on the tpi rails the clips hold in the injectors? So I'd just have to worry about holding the rails into the manifold and not the injectors into the rail, right?

I wouldnt trust the JB weld with 43-48psi in the rails. And if you look at the stock TPI rails they are like a L shape at 120deg.(the deg. is wrong but you should get what I mean) that look like they will hit the rail mounts on the manifold. I think it would be easyer to buy fuel rail stock and a 13.5mm drill bit(for the inj. holes) to make the rails. And then you could mount the rails the right way.

yea, Im at school now so I cant look at the rails, but you might be right about the interfeance issue. Are you sure about the 13.5mm number? I dont want to go buy a drill and whatnot, if youre not sure i'll measure it this weekend.

dont waste your money on the fuel rail kit ONLY if you have an external regulator

i can duplicate those rails for cheap

all you need is two feet of .500 rail = $24

drill the ends with a drill press and a 37/64" drill and use some 3/8" to -6 or -8an adapters.

It is your choice to either thread them in or just weld them. I'm going to have mine welded. i already have all my fittings

i hope to have this done by the end of may, now if i had my motor togehter i could put it on something......

SIGH

I currently do not have an external regulator, I wouldnt have a problem getting one if it weren't too expensive. Do you know if they sell the rails pre-drilled for the injectors with the correct spacing, or would I have to drill that as well as the ends? I'm really not a machinist, so I'm sort of hesitating on trying to fab fuel rails, espicially drilling precise enough to get a good seal on 45 psi fuel with an o-ring. Hopefully summit will come through for me on the fuel rails soon, but I have a feeling I'm going to end up working something out on my own.

Jegs has universal EFI regulator its a aeromotive PN# 027-13109 its $130.You might also still be able to use the TPI rails if you spun them around. So the side where the cross over tubes were are on the outside and then tap or weld the end fittings. It would look like crap and you still need a way to hold them down but it might work.

no the rails dont come pre-drilled at all

i'd only reccomend doing what i'm doing only if you have a friend that can help you with the machining of the rails

i'm drilling the ends, my buddy is drilling the holes in the fuel rail, and anohter friend is doing the tig welding

Actually, I think what I've decided to do is to put my friends spare tpi intake on for the time being, and then swap over to the stealth ram whenever they get my fuel rails. Should be interesting to see the performance difference.

The performance difference on a 92Z with Catback is.... DrumRoll please!!

92Z with Catback system installed: Peaked out at 214hp
Same car with Stealth Ram and 58mm TB: peaked out at 244hp

At 5200 RPM the Stealth Ram made 63 more hp than the TPI.

This was on the stock 5.7L motor.

The TPI graph looks like 180* of a sine wave
The Stealth Ram graph looks more like a 45* angle

Sorry for using geometric terms here but you get the idea.
