lt1 cam
i saw on ebay some one had a lt1 cam for sale. he said it would be a great up grade for tpi engines is taht right? im askin cus im in the middle of swappin to a speed density system and i know that u cant have to much cam. what cam would be best for my setup and do the 350 heads from a vette fit a 305 block. thanks
It depends on what you want the car to do.
If you want to race the car regularly,I would get something bigger.
If your looking for a little more performance in a daily driven car, then it is a good cam.
It also depends on which LT1 cam it is.The 96 LT1 cam I installed in my L98 is .447"/.459" lift 205/207 duration @.05 117 lsa.I also added 1.6 roller tips for a little more lift......

I doubt the cam is necissarily responsible for all the torque..
The duration is just super small, you could still make more torque with a degree or two more all around.

.431/.451 lift,196/207 duration???????????????
400 ft lbs of torque!
It's the cam from the RamJet 350.
So I guess having a small duration isn't exactly what you need to make gobs of torque.Right?
Makes my LT1 cam look BIG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW! 2.78 60' times?!? Way to go! You must really have taken off ALL your suspension and put a few extra batteries in the engine compartment to be as successful as that in your runs! Congrats!

You can run an lt1 cam SPECS in a big block and make 400ft/lbs, so what?
let me know what engine this supposed 400ft/lbs of torque is in and all the specs of it and i'll tell you WHY its making that torque.

The cam I'm talking about comes in the Ram Jet 350 which is a crate engine offered by GM.
It's 350 ci,9.4:1 compression,Vortec heads,.431/.451 lift,196/207 duration roller cam,and Ram Jet pfi.....

I could run a 4 second 60' If I just footbraked and launched it at WOT.
Whats your Point ?

The point I'm trying to make is that my "wussy"LT1 cam makes plenty of torque. As far as my driving is concerned,YES,it was the second time I ever ran a car at the track.
Do you get my point now AJ??
