supposed to be all the same other than the knock sensor I think, and the prom but sounds like you have that covered

Parts that differ:
1. PROM
2. Knock Sensor
3. ESC (Electronic Spark Control) Module
4. Injectors

I noticed basically no difference when changing my ESC, but the other three are pretty important. But, if you burn your own PROM, you can probably get away with the 19lb injectors. If you get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, you can definately get away with the 19lb injectors unless you start getting into a higher horsepower level. The 19lb injectors tend to flake out above 50-55lbs of fuel pressure.

Monte, the 350 uses 22lb injectors from the factory. how do yo uknow you have 19lb injectors in your 350.

i did this swap last summer onmy 91 and changed the prom, injectors, and knock sensor. everything else swapped over. no problems yet. i never did the ESC, not to familair with it either.

I was thinking 19 and 24 were the 2 initial available injectors on the TPI cars forgot all about 22's never mind about the earlier post then

Is that everything that needs to be changed when switching a TPI from a 305 to a ZZ4 crate? I am saving up for this engine and want to know what needs to be changed to use my TPI on it. How about the fuel pump, will it be ok?

depending on which heads you are using and which base you are using you may have problems with the center bolts on the manifold, 87? and later had the bolts that pointed straight up, prior to that the center bolts pointed the same way that the other bolts on the head do, if you are going from the newer style manifold to the older style heads, you can elongate the center bolt holes, Ive read that there is a special tool for it or you can just grind them out, depending on how cheap the tool is it may be easier than grind, check, grind, etc etc Dont quote me on the years but Im sure thats close anyway. what I did find out is if you try to go from the older style manifold to the newer style heads you run out of material on the top part of the intake and Im not sure how well it will stay or hold with out causing problems for sealing or maybe even cracking.

So there aren't any flow problems concerning the actual runners and plenum etc? I was thinking of getting an older 350 and using my TPI unit on it. I think this would be a great alternative to trying to find a 350 TPI complete to put in.

the actuall manifold is the same 305/350 so flow problems wont matter other than what restrictions they already have, but if you want to get a little nuts you can always port the base, and plenum out there are plenty of things you can do to a TPI to make it work better than stock, but thats often times the case with factory parts. depending on what you are looking for you can either get a TPI set up off ebay with wiring and all for fairly inexpensive, or get lucky like me and find a wrecked car and gut everything out, I think I ended up with 700 into a engine trans and wiring harness, should have kept the disk brakes and rims but oh well hind sight 20/20
