Help, My L98 hesitates.
Help, My L98 hesitates.
Hey, I just got a 92 Z-28 with an L98, the car was lady owned since new, with 97,000 miles on it now. For 3 years the car has been in storage since she bought a new vette in 99. Now though when I go to accelerate, it will hesitate before going. If I just slowly press the pedal, its smooth, or if I mat it, it wont hesitate at all, but anywhere in the middle is AWFUL. All I've done to it so far is put in new K&Ns, a coolant sensor of sorts (right under the plenum), and was told to clean the throttle body with choke and carb cleaner and a tooth brush, which I did, but I didnt use much cleaner, I also put on a new fuel filter, which helped, but certianly did not fix my problem. If anyone can help, PLEASE.. I dont know where to go from here. It's been suggested that the converters may be clogged, or there may be a problem elsewhere in the exhaust, or that a lifter on the cam isn't doing its job, making a valve not open all the way... but I really dont know... THANKS A TON!! Every rely is help!!

hey why don't you go ahead and change the fuel filter, and run some fuel cleaner through your system, since it's been in storeage, your injectors maybe dirty. That could explain when you get on it, that it will hasitate cause its being starved of fuel for a little bit.

Hey. Welcome to the boards!
Here are my thoughts on what it might be. (They should probably be checked anyways)
First off check your Throttle Position Sensor. There is a tech article about it. https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/tpimod2.shtml
Second you may want to get a new O2 sensor and check your timing.

I know with my it started doing that slowly at first and just got worse. After a bunch of idiots looked at it and didn't find anything, i would check the fuel pump. Just check the fuel pressure with a gauge and if anything is wrong you'll see it.
