stress cracks
stress cracks
I was talking to a friend of mine, and he said my car has stress cracks. We let the car idle and gave it gas and the car shifted. He said this was a sign of stress to the chasis. He tried showing me the cracks but I couldn't see them. My car only has a few mods. I was wondering if he was right or just trying to sound smart. Thanks in advance for the info.

Hes right... Most 3rd gens youll find will have these. Well, any third gens which dont have a 2.8 or a TBI (which are pretty close power~>weight wise)!
Stress cracks are a sine of, well, unibody flex. Theyre usually right above the rear of the door windows. The only way to sove this is with frame reinforcments such as subframe connectors.

Should anything be done to the stress cracks.
I looked at them again and they seem more like a
cracked gasket by the t-top. It is hard to tell because
the gasket and black paint blend in. Should I have a stress test
done or just not worry about it and just put on sub-frame connectors.
