Stock TBI Heads...
Stock TBI Heads...
Ok I finally got everything to convert my TBI to TPI.(Intake wise Anyway) My question is.. should I spend the time/effort and port the stock TBI heads, or just save the $$$ and get the "305 Torqer"(Spelling) heads (By World products?)for $250? Ea.??? I am already looking at the SLP runners, but I am more concerned with the heads, as the runners can be pulled with ease, the heads are a different story. I am also looking at a Crower Cam/and R/R 1.6 ratio soon too. I am looking at the crower cause it comes with just about everything BUT the rockers.

After doing all this work I would not put the TBI heads on. Those heads are probably the most restrictive pieces that GM ever made for v8.
Go with the 305 Stock Replacement (SR Torquer) or buy the TPI heads and port them.
I am going to stick with my stock heads and port them because i just don't want to spend $1000 cdn on SR's (assembled) to see a small difference.
Before you buy SR's do a search and see why some people like them and some don't.
This is just my opinion.

I'm in the same position as you. I'm ready to do the conversion and decided to get a pair of remanufactured 081 TPI heads from pep boys. I'll port them and call it good. I really didn't want to spend a load of cash on heads, just to scrap them later when I go with a 350. The L03 only has 80K on it and still seems strong tho. Might be worth looking into rebuilt heads from an auto parts. I got mine for $180 each, assembled.
