Sensor on air cleaner assembly???

I bought an 86 IROC LB9 a few weeks ago which was missing the air cleaner assembly. I went to a junkyard and got one. When I got back to put it on, I realized there was a probe on it towards the rear of it on the drivers side. I'm guessing some kind of temp sensor. Point is...it obviously doesn't connect anywhere to the car! Was the air cleaner off a V6 or something that had a sensor there?

Sounds like that car had the temp sensor relocated to the ducting, ignore it, it won't do you much good in a MAF car. Some company makes temp sensor relocation kit but the SD cars are the only ones that really benefit from it.
