G-tech to G-tech TPI to LT1 times!

OK, yes these are gtech times but they are compared to other gtech times on the same gtech on the same road. With the only other change to my car being an LT1 manifold in place of my LTR setup. LTR 13.46 @ 106.4 LT1 13.50 @ 111.1. I blame the actual time change to the fact that the LTR times were on drag radials. (ok, two changes but this one benefits the LTRs) When I say no other changes I mean stock programming, timing, fuel pressure, gearing, etc. Draw your own conclusions.

not bad

Well forst off you gotta consider its a g-tech time. Its not like the real thing but its better than SOTP. That being said, I noticed you had a 5mph gain. Imo thats a signifigant hp gain. Once you get some better traction and the programing figured out it should be more. even though your 1/4 mile time wasnt that much lower I think it has partly do to with the g-tech and the things I mentioned above.

I've been thinking of doing this with a 305. Maybe stroke it to a 335, HSR or Mini-ram, nice cam, put some 64cc heads on it to lower the compression, and a sc to top it off. Might make a sweet combo.

Sounds to me like you need to get the programming down and get traction. The extremely close times but vastly different MPH seem to point to traction. Which in turn will bring down the time. Looks like a good improvement for approx. $500.

Wataru,
If you are going to add a SC then I wouldn't worry so much about changing to an LT1 intake. Especially on a 305 or stroked 305. The SC could more than make up for the LTR's shortcomings. LT1 and SC on a 305 I think would be overkill.

But some people just like to be different. I'd like to see it if you do it.

I've been thinking about doing the same conversion and glad to see such positive gains.

Just a friendly comment. You should indicate the times in you sig are gtech.

Nice to see people using the "do it yourself" tech article on my webpage. Glad you were able to post the results.
I see you too gained 5 mph just like I did. That equals to approximently 40-50 rear wheel HP from an intake swap alone. Besides N2O, nothing else can show that kind of improvement for cheap.
Remember you can sell the old TPI to get some of your money back to!

MY SIG TIMES ARE NOT GTECH TIMES!!!

Dude, my times were run on Milan dragway in Mighigan. If you look, my times on the strip are very close to the gtech times. If you come over to my house I will duplicate or better these times for you. But then look at the mph. 102 track 106.4 on the 'tech. So approx subtract 5mph. Actually the faster you are accelerating at the end of the 1/4 the more the mph is off. Please do not assume my times are g-tech as that offends me. Also times in sig were LTR times. Also, there is no way I have 500 dollars in my manifold. Just over 300 with all my errors total I would recommend having John do your manifold(s). I do not know John, but my point is that a one off manifold conversion is time consuming.

I just wanted to post these times before I change the prom and the rear gears. For a comparison only. I figure I wanted to eliminate all varibles except the one in question. Oh yeah, before I shifted at 4800, now 5800. just look at that little cam!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't get your panties ina wad. Your times looked similar enough to be confused with your gtech times. Glad you were able to do so well at the strip.

Peace - out.

gtech is only .1 to .15 off...and it usually tells you that you're slower than you really are!
