Vats Removal on 305TPI

I have a 89 Formula with a 305TPI engine in it. Now every once in a while I goto start the car and when I turn the key all the way as usual to start the car the dummy lights come on but nothing else happens. I than have to take out the key and wait usually 4minutes till the car will start. My mechanic told me its the Security system by GM which I know it is VATS. I heard you can get a burned chip or someting to run the car without the VATS system engaged. If so I will be willing to pay anybody willing to make me a chip. But for now just give me a little advice guys. PS:THis same problem occurs in my 89 V6 Firebird too.

VATS sends a signal to both the ECM and a relay that disables the starter.

To get rids of VATS you not only need a PROM with VATS disabled, you will also need to permanently enable the starter relay. I don't know where it is located off teh top of my head but you should have no prblem finding the info with a few searches.
