I thought if the VATS was the problem, it would set a trouble code and a SES.

does it turn over, or not do a thing? if it turns over, the vats is not the problem.

if you do a code scan you should get a vats fault code, dont remember the # off hand, but I would think you would be getting lights at the dash, you may also check to see if the rod that runs down the column is still attached to the ignition switch, that may be a problem to, or the rack in the switch could be brokwn, if the rod is still in place make sure it is moving the switch when you turn the key over, Ive heard of this happening but never experienced it.

with the vats system if I remember right the injectors shouldnt have fired either the vats system is supposed to send in a digital square wave and the computer recognizes that to fire the injectors, either way you got it running.

that was the last thing we found that was not runnig . we had to send power there to . there was a brown wire w/white strip on it . one was to the injeactor and the other to the fuel pump . i don't know if this is going to have any after math yet . but the car is going to the deal tommrow . to have the vats fix in it . i just live 2 hour away from the closest dealer . so easy to drive there. if u know of any problems know of doing this let me knmow . i would hate to hurt it any more then it has been .
thank u

i am having trouble starting my car, it will turn the engine , and i have spark, but my fuel pressure is crap, i replaced the fuel regulator and that didnt fix it. so i am putting a new fuel pump in it, so my question i deal with the vats on cars all the time at work and i thought that it just wouldnt let the motor turn over, so to double check, can my problem be caused buy the vats?

thanks
anthony

vats is supposed to not allow engine to crank or the injectors to fire you can rewire the satarter to work the way "pre-vats" cars were set up its not hard but with the vats and a no crank problem its easier to troubleshoot to the vats if you leave everything the way its supposed to be

yea i know it is easyer to trouble shoot than bypass, i was just making sure that the vats worked the way i thought it did.

to bypaee the vats . i had to add power to the ignition switch. 2nd i put power to the fuel pump and 3rd put power to the injecters . just to bypass the vats . it took forevery to figer that out . mine would not trun over and the dash did not trun on .
