Okay, 3rd gear falls on its FACE!

So my car runs pretty good through 1st and 2nd, but 3rd gear is a killer. FINALLY I GOT A JOB! So that means I can start using the credit cards again...its $400 limit so I was wondering what I should get...

1.6 Roller Rockers - $300
Alum Driveshaft - $350
Underdrive Pulleys - $200

What should i get??? I wan't something to grab me a tenth or so and I need it to be able to eventually fit on my L98 block, thats why I'm not getting a cam cuz I don't know which heads I'm gonna use. Any input appreciated...I'm looking to hit 13s with this mod, a/c delete, smog delete, and a chip so I need about a 1/10 off my times!

Will the RRs make my car louder with the more lift and duration, will it make it rev quicker? How much time can I expect from the alum Driveshaft??? Pulleys even worth doing?

Aluminum driveshaft doesn't really make a noticeable difference. It is certainly never to be thought of as a 'bang for the buck' mod, more like an 'i got it for nothing, / every little bit helps' kind of deal. I only run one because i got it for free, and if i didn;t have one, it would not be on my wanted list.

Pullies are good for a solid tenth or 2. They are also good at causing charging and cooling problems. I'd pass on 'em myself.

RRs are neat and also are worth a tenth or 2. Easy to install too as long as setting the valves doesn't intimidate you. The only drawback is you'll need to spend extra money on self aligning RRs now, and down the road depending on what you do about heads you may run guideplates and have to sell the self aligners.

If you absolutely have a burning need to get something right now, the RRs are the safest bet.

siamese the intake base. it'll raise the powerband and allow you to get into third at a better RPM range for the engine.

I am doing mine this weekend.

the plenum is not where you need to free up flow. Unless you have fully siamesed runners too then there is no need to siamese the plenum just to have it feed into separated runners.
