Here's a few pics of my setup. I have non-smog headers (I welded an O2 bung to them), and I removed as much of the crap as possible, including the heater diverter box and charcoal cannister. I'm planning to put the AC back in, but in the meantime my engine bay is pretty empty.

Yes. Anything but a stock TPI would be better. A stock TPI type setup is going to rob you of too much HP on a 406, IMO.

i like this set up... it looks like the TPI plenum and then goes into short runners like the mini ram or LT1...

Here's a better choice for a 406.

750 for an LT1? That must include the TB and injectors and thermostat and lines, too?

Dang it,, can't attach a photo from webshots,, and the image is too large to load from my hard drive - how do I reduce that?

yeah, those headers look like hell. I bought some of that $40 ceramic paint crap from Summit because at the time I had nowhere near enough money for coated headers. That stuff was a waste of money.

1 3/4" coated headers are on next year's agenda, along with a new catback.

Jim, did you do all the stuff right on those coatings, I've heard other people using them with success.

I didn't do it exactly as the instructions said, but I was pretty close. The instructions said to sand blast the headers before putting that stuff on. Sand blasting makes an unbelievable mess, so I stripped the paint off and sanded them with a semi-course sand paper. The coating stuck fine... it's still on the headers. It's just that the coating didn't prevent the headers from rusting.

Weird, I haven't tried mine yet, heard it worked well. Seems like if the coating stuck it wouldn't allow the rust to come through, but it may. The sandpaper must have worked since they told me if I did it wrong, it wouldn't stick.
