Super Ram Installation Begins.

I had thought it would have been harder so far. I got both the lower runners on in 20 minutes. Used a foot long 6mm allen T handle with a allen ball end. Very Nice. Then I got screwed Cause I thought I could put the fuel lines on then after the runners. Well I couldnt , so i took out 2 and 4 injector and placed them in the boss then put the rails on since those were the only ones not touching. Also had to "tap" the valve covers on with a rubber mallet. Touched very little on the runners. I am going to grind some off next time whenever I have to take them off. Fuel injector clips seem to be a pain at the moment. Tomorrow I will tacle the top. Instead of cussing up a storm I am going to get the 4 inner screws from the top. Drill out the threads and run a bolt down to a nut underneigth. With double lock washers and Loc Tite. I wont have to worry. People say what if the bolt comes out? Well there are pipe plugs in there that could come out. The screws on the TB blades could come out and so on. I'll take my chances. I am also going with another members idea of using RTV also. I am using the gaskets but also with a thin layer of RTV for added protection. I have TF heads and didnt have to remove any rocker arms or stude as another member had too.

Just take a dremel or something and cut slots in the threaded end of those inside bolts. Then you can just hold the bolt from the bottom and turn it up into the threads with a small screwdriver. Once its snug, I used onf of the Craftsman ratchet wrenches to tighten it. After taking mine apart 4 times, Ive found this to make it muc heasier.

No way to get around it the SuperRam is a pain in the *** and will eventually cause some vacuum leaks over time. You will probably need to go over the manifold every now and again to tighten the bolts up. It is a great intake none the less.

I took mine apart about a year ago and replaced with a miniram it was stilla pain to get this apart.

The little bolts that hold the upper plenum on are a royal pain but with a slim box wrench it goes a little easier.

GRRRRR first off i had to chop apart the number 7 injector conector to get it to fit, and also i have hit my windshield wiper motor. Yes I even took off the rubber washers but since my ES motor mounts raise the whole damn motor about an inch its VERY tight.

#2 injector plug may need some "surgery" as well. Slotting the screws is the way to go, that's what LPE told me when I called them. I had mine apart 4 times & it makes it way easier.

I have the motor out, should I assembly the SR now or wait until the motor is in to protect the large box. To use the sloted bolts by the thread end, the top cover have to come off, right ?

Thanks,

I would wait till the engine is in the car, you'll need the extra space working around the cowl droppin it in.
Yes, the lid must be off for you to be able to turn the bolts from the top.
I would however test fit everything before you drop it in, alot easier to look at the fit with the engine out.
