AFR 190 heads

I just checked out their site. Can anyone tell me the difference between angle plug heads and L98 angle plug heads? I may have solved the problem that I've been having. I have an L98 but I think they *may* have sold me the regular angle plug heads. If so would my intake manifold match up? Thanks.

If you have an L98 than "L98 angle plug heads" is what you want. Simple.

BTW, your intake manifold bolt pattern has nothing to do w/your plug angle happens to be.

Obviously I need the L98 angle plug heads but they also carry angle plug heads that aren't L98 specific. Do you know what the actual difference is? That's what I'm trying to figure out. Thanks

The reason you'd want L98 angle plugs is so if you want to use headers like SLP or Edlebrock they would fit and clear the plugs.

OK thanks. So you're saying that the same intake manifolds would work on either head?

No you want the L98 angle plug heads. If they sent you the wrong ones, send em back.

When ordering the heads specify that you have a TPI intake manifold so you would receive the correct bolt pattern.
The thing that I found out about AFR, the company, is that when they receive an order for specific heads, they make them from scratch. So be prepaired for a 2-6 week waiting period. I waited 6 weeks for mine. It doesn't matter if you order from AFR or from one of their dealers. The wait depends on how backed up they are but buying from a reseller is considerably less expensive, in most cases.

OK, I guess I should have elaborated more from the beginning. The heads were installed over a year ago at a shop because it wasn't something I was willing to tackle at the time. I bought the heads from TPIS, they are their Stage I AFR-190 heads. At the same time I was also switching to the Super Ram intake manifold. The first mechanic didn't mention a problem but it turns out he was an idiot (for other reasons). The next shop asked where I got the heads from because the intake didn't seem to match up perfectly. I haven't really driven the car much in the past year or so because I bought a truck but I have been wondering about this intake problem ever since. I didn't continue to research it at the time because I was running low on funds. I guess I'll start with a stock manifold to see how it matches up with the heads then go from there. If it turns out I have the wrong heads then it may be easier to just get an intake that matches than to but another set of heads.

I’m not sure what you’ve ordered and how it fit but if you start out w/a stock TPI set-up, then any aftermarket parts, you ordered to replace the stock parts, should fit!!!
The only difference I can think of is that 85-88 TPI is slightly different from 89-92 TPI . Someone correct me if I’m wrong as far as the right years.
You should really do some “Archives” research.
