Starting Problems
Starting Problems
Hi I got a 1986 5.0L TPI Trans Am, when I start the car it dies imediatly, but when I disconnect the MAF it starts and runs on the default, so i bought a new MAF, still has this problem, I just replaced the sparkplugs/wires and the fuel filter and it is still doing the same thing, anyone have any ideas on what I could try next ?
Ok i tried adjusting the torx screw on the throttlebody and when i had it loosend almost all the way down it would start and stay running maybe 2 seconds longer then it originally did, also I was looking at the "Air Idle Control" article in Tech Artics, and i dont know where it says for me to do this Take the paper clip and open it up and form it into a big "U" shape. Insert the clip ends into the ALDL in the 'A' and 'B' pins
Anyone know what its talking about ?

doing the paperclip thing allows you to ground the computer. This will then give you your trouble codes through the SES light.

Try this link:
https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/f...gen.shtml#misc
and read the first question: "How can I display the error codes from a Service Engine Light?"
This will explain how to read it too!
Once you get a specific trouble code, come back and ask with that number, it will make sense later. Tell these guys here what the number is and they will help you get it fixed.
