Any difference in TBs from ....

1985-88 and 1989-92 TPI Camaro/Firebirds? Were the throttle cables different?

Yea, they are different. One has a groove and a cam sorta deal, the other just clips in place.

Damn. I guess 89-92 has the cam (which is what I have stock). Do you know if I can modify my throttle cable to clip on to the 85-88 style?

Just a guess, but its probably just a matter of swapping out the throttle cable assembly to the earlier style.

Another difference is the IAC passages are different to match TB to plenum

BTW, I have a spare one off an '88, I'd swap you for the '89-92. I'm only an hour or so South of you.

8Mike9:

The IAC passsages on the back are different for the aftermarket TBs too? The reason I ask is because the SuperRam plenum is the same for ALL years so it should match up with either TB. I should be OK unless I use my stock plenum (right?).

The TB I bought is for an 85-88 so it looks like we're both in search of the same part (89-92). I'm gonna try to get an 85-88 throttle cable tomorrow to see if it works.

Good luck.
