Aftermarket MAF

this might sound like a dumb question, but does anyone know why there are no aftermarket MAF sensors for our cars ? I mean look at 4gens, they have several different aftermarket mafs to choose from. The only choice we seem to have is to remove the screens or switch to SD.... or am I missing something ?
Thanks,
Alex

Even if we had a bigger MAF for our cars, the ECM is only able to read a maximum of 255 gms. Anything beyond that can not be recognized by the ECM and so it'd be a waste. Do a search on the topic and you'll see it's been beaten to death.

You have a point. So shouldn't we all just make a larger one for people that don't know this and sell it on ebay. It would be like that electric supercharger, the one with a fan in the intake line!!

Even on the 4th gens, you don't really see a big improvement. There's just a lot of guys who buy into the advertisement and like to do the mod b/c its easy to do at home. I always wanted to know the reason why our cars don't respond to them. Thanx !! If you want to get a little more out of the stock one, you can de-screen it and port it out a bit.

Gag! For the love of the almighty, don't do that!

Are you familiar with FUBAR? That's how your ECM will feel about it.

the MAF topic is really a funny one, there are the people that say it will do next nothing.... and then there are the ones that love the gain they got from doing it...as for myself, I still have them on but the more people I see that actually gained with it the more I get tempted to do it. I'm just a little scared to screw it up big time and I really donīt feel like buying a new MAF
Does anyone actually have gained something messureable from it ? I read it should net about 140 cfm ? what would that net in hp ?

The WELLS Maf flows 750 CFM which is more then the Stock one descreened and still more air then the ECM can recognize.

Just because you mod the MAF doesnt mean it'll set a code 33. I wouldnt bother doing it on a mostly stock or mildly modified car though.
