I ran the MR and LT4-HOT cam on my
ZZ4 (unported Alum L98 heads)
http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~davis/z28...MRwebpage.html
shows the dyno..
Made nice power up to 6500rpms..
It's probably not the phatest cam you can
run, but it's very streetable and makes good
power up where the MR shines...

If you want to run a MiniRam then put a real cam in it. The HOT cam in puny for the MiniRam.
Mike doesn't know what he's talking about
... go match power.

I run a HOT cam presently and am happy, but plugging around in DD2000 I notice the Comp Cams #305 cam will make significantly more HP. Next time I'm in the engine I'll likely swap.

Damn, this thread makes me feel like a *****! LOL I got the Hot cam for my fastburn crate motor and miniram set up thinking it would be a good match up. I got this one b/c people were having good results with it at the time with the miniram. I was going to go with one of TPIS' cams but when i brought up the idea of the Hot Cam to them they had told me that it would be a little bigger than the one they dynoed with the fastburn set up which made 460hp and 435lbs/ft. We'll see how much bull that was when i get to a dyno tune. I am hoping for similar results to the fly wheel. The motor is not running yet but i am not about to go and and pull the cam just b/c of this. Its still a nice cam IMO but there is definately room for improvement! It is by far not as "HOT" as it should be. Any other recommendations for a future cam for me? Maybe next fall i'll pull it out and work the heads too, just to freshen it up i guess! Thanks for any help-Bryan

The key here is to pick a big cam that will still leave you with enough piston-to-valve clearance. I'm running 0.550" lift with a stock 0.030" deck and 60cc chambers and have plenty of clearance. If you are running 58cc chambers then you may be forced to pick a smaller cam in order to have enough P-to-V.

Alot of the LT1 guys like the comp 12-432-8 and 08-306-8 http://www.compcams.com/information/...umber=12-432-8 http://www.compcams.com/information/...umber=08-306-8 They say that 12-432-8 is better because of more agressive lobes and you dont have to spin it as high. This summer Im switching to 432 the hot cam is just to mild.

Thanks guys! I am sure i will be plenty happy with this set up for a while compared to my old 305. Like i said, there is always something bigger and badder to be done. Time and money are my only restraints! Thanks for your time-Bryan
