front main seal

can i just loosen the oil pan and timing cover and slip the new seal in? or would i have to take off the whole oil pan ?

preferably drop at least front of pan- which requires removal of basically all the screws- which i think is easier than removeing timing cover cuz you gotta pull off the dampner and then reinstall it

What seal are you trying to replace? If you are talking about the front crank seal, then you must remove the dampener. The seal is removed and tapped back in from the front of the timing chain cover, so no need to loosen the cover or oil pan.

If your talking about the front of the oil pan, then you need to remove the whole oil pan, since that front seal is really part of a one piece oil pan gasket.
