Centerbolt Iron Heads
Centerbolt Iron Heads
Are the heads used on late 80's-91 Chevy 350 TBI police caprices the same as our L98 TPI cast iron heads? I know they are centerbolt heads and came on 350 blocks that were hyd roller equipped.
If not, can anyone tell me the differences?

Huh?!?!
The iron L98 heads are NOT the same as 350 TBI heads!!! The 350 TBI heads are "high swirl" heads. They absolutely suck for any performance application.
The stock L98 iron heads were also used on GM's 300 HP 350 crate motor. This was before they started using the Vortec's on the crate motor.

I recently read that the 89 heads are "high swirl" heads and work well on modified engines also. It said to pick up a set of 88 or earlier 350 TPI heads instead. It didn't mention the 90 through 92 models. That leads me to think that they are like the 89's, but that's only a guess.
