LT1 intake swap - need help with ?'s

Couldn't find any real info during the search of old topics. LT1 intake on stock L98 heads with fel-pro 1256 gasket has coolant leaking from the second driver's side front bolt hole. Only used thread sealer on the bolts, and not rtv like mine.

Haven't pulled it back off yet. John's site is down, so e-mails just bounce back.

Need help from some LT1 intake stock head swappers.

My heads are AFR's and the coolant ports are smaller than stock.

Exactly what he said above!! As this is my brother-in-laws car, and we need to get something done! BJ has been gracious enough to store it in his garage for the past week and a half, as me and my bro-in-law live out of town, and haven't been able to get back up there. But BJ has taken it upon himself to do everything he knows to do to try and fix it!

So John, Mr. Millican if you will...lol.....is there any solution to this problem? We really need to get this car out of our buddies garage, as he has his own car he needs to work on.

The garage is not a problem, dood.

If the intake needs to be welded, then I still don't see how the intake coolant port wouldn't still be smaller than the head port.?

Reading the first post is confusing. You want help from people with stock heads but you have AFR's?

I don't recognize the gaskets you said you used. Did you use a SMALL amount of RTV around the water ports directly on the intake gasket before bolting the intake down?

Who did the machine work of the LT1 intake?

The heads in question are the stock L98 350 heads. You did the intake. I used rtv on the head around the coolant ports and on top of the gasket.

Is there a fix to the coolant leak coming from the second bolt hole on the drivers side? I see that some have returned the intake for a refund, but one guy had some more material welded onto the water ports of the intake?

So, should we try a different intake gasket besides the 1256, like maybe the 1205 or something?

The 1256 is the stock gasket. The 1205 is slightly larger on the intake ports.

You got the intake from me? I don't remember shipping to Nashville, TN lately. Got an invoice number?

I guess the first thing to do is verify where exactly where your like is coming from. Just saying the drivers side second bolt really doesn't tell me alot. Is it coming right up through the threads of the bolt or does the intake not cover the water port 100% on the heads?

Customer Name: James Greene

Invoice Number: 1042

Date: Sept. 14th, 2002

We purchased the intake, remote thermostat, fuel lines, and had the intake powder-caoted red.

P.S. I'm James' brother-in-law that has been swapping e-mails with the whole time from b_patterson@charter.net e-mail address.
