IAC SR Question

I just have a question on the IAC. I understand that you cannot use an 85-88 throttle body on an later plenum because of the different IAC passages. However, I am converting to the LPE SuperRam, with an Accel 58mm throttle body. The problem is that it is for the 85-88 years. Now. I know the SuperRam has the opening to accomodate the earlier throttle bodies, and I know the throttle cable would have to be changed. My question is will the IAC off my 89 fit and work properly when I attach it to the 85-88 style throttle body? Will everything work trouble-free? I'm pretty sure it will, but I wanted to ask you guys before I do anything. Thanks.

Yes. I have an IAC housing from an 87 TB on an aftermarket 58mm TB for 89-92 TPI.

As far as the IACs themselves, I'm not sure if they're the same or not. I would think they are.

The SuperRam plenum is not year specific so either TB will work with it. I am in the same position as you, I bought a twin 58mm TB (from eBay) for 85-88 TPI and I have an 89 TPI. I've already switched the IAC over and it does fit. The car is not running though because the intake is off. I also purchased the 85-88 throttle cable from the dealer (about $20).

Did you buy the TB from Matt? How much was it?

You'll probably get yours running before me so please let me know if you run in to any problems.

I initially had a problem with them because the SuperRam base I had would not bolt up to them properly. With the bolts in, the manifold would not sit flush with the heads. We had to slot the end holes slightly in order for it to fit right. I have a stock base here and another SR base on the way to compare to make sure which is the culprit.

DAMN! $1075 New!!!! for all that?? The best deal I've seen new is $1100 for plenum, runners and base. The TB is an additional $400+ more. I just bought a used combo of base, plenum amd runners (with gaskets) for $889. The 58mm TB I purchased a short bit ago for $375 (also used). You got a smoking deal man.
