You can block it off, but make sure you disable the EGR in the PROM Chip for the ECM. Otherwise, you get a code 32, and it may have a small effect on performance/driveability, due to the fact that spark/fuel requirments will change when EGR is expected.

Probably won't gain any significant horsepower. The EGR isn't open during WOT, which is when you want most of your horepower anyhow. Most people block it off because they either set a code and don't want to replace it, or they just don't want to deal with it, not because they are looking for "more power". You have to go into the PROM using Prom Editing software such as "CATS engine tuner" and disable the diagnostics for EGR and change the EGR enable parameters so that it never gets turned on. But then you also need a way to erase your PROM and re-burn it. I use "The Pocket Programmer". Everything you need to know about PROM burning can be found in the "DIY PROM" forum.
In my opinion this mod isn't worth the hassle. I have done it on other vehicles and have not noticed much of an improvement, at least an improvement that can justify doing it. Just my opinion.

Hate to bring this up but...
Im about to throw a TPI intake on my aftermarket heads and...
I dont have EGR ports in the heads, nor did the TPI intake come with an EGR valve and what not...
So what do i need to block off? I see the 2 holes in the top of the intake... is that it?
also im using Commander950 so i wont need to disable it, i just need to make sure there are no open holes in the intake to worry about. Anything else i may need to block off? I know about the CSinjector already.

Kingtal0n here is a pic for you, you just need to make or find the plate.
You could get some 1/8 aluminum and cut it with a jig saw then drill the 2 bolt holes, put a gasket on it and you are ready to go.

unless you cruise at freeway speeds with your car, you probably won't set a code without it. I haven't set one yet with my IROC, and I haven't had the motivation to upgrade my chip. The only time you'll usually see a problem is if you cruise at a constant speed for a long period of time.
