LT1 or LS1 heads on ex-tpi...

Hey guys, I have the opportunity to purchase either LT1 or LS1 used heads, the engine they would go onto is an 1988 corvette 383 ex- TPI with factory aluminum heads, I have purchased a converted LT1 intake from John Millican. Will either set of heads work on my 383 set-up? If not I will keep the factory heads and port/polish.Thanks!

Ivan,

I will also add you cannot even think about using the LS1 heads on an early SBC.

Now, you CAN use the LT1 heads on an early SBC like yours but you will have to do some machining. They are not a direct bolt on but many people have done it.

If you do go the LT1 heads/LT1 intake route you need to let me know for sure. I don't re-drill the intake bolt pattern if people use LT1 heads with LT1 intake. It would also be cheaper since I don't have to drill the bolt pattern.

Here's instructions on converting LT1 heads for use on a SBC.

Do you have any bigger scans of this? It's quite hard to read.

Reasons i can think of for swapping:

Use LT1 intake.

Ran out of thoughts.
There was quite a bit of this going around years ago, with Fords... using a Cleveland head on a SBF like a 302 or 351W. Its pretty much died, mainly because there was non-standard machine work involved, and the heads available that were bolt ons worked so well anyway. Almost a novelty, if you will. I'd imagine this sort of swap will go the same direction.

I can e-mail it to you. My site is down that has the bigger scans on it. 3GO has an attachment limit so I cannot upload the larger scans.
