I have a code "43" and a spare ECS module to try. problem is im too dumb to find the one on the car.. where the hell is this thing?


91 t/a - tpi - 305

 

The module should be next to the power brake booster, near all of the relays. At least, that's what it says in the books. Although, I'm getting the same error code and I can't find mine either. I have a 91 model too. Maybe it was placed somewhere else for those model years.

 

I am pretty sure your ESC is in your Eeprom chip. Your cars are on the SD setup, not the MAF. The MAF has the ESC by the booster, the SD has it in the prom itself. That is why you cannot find it.

On speed density 3rd gens, the ESC is on the MEMCAL (inside the ECM, under the blue plastic hood, next to the PROM).

 

Guys It is in the Memcal. Period! Don't go looking all over the engine compartment to find it. The ESC isn't there. It is in the computer. 90 - 92 cars had it on the memcal. 89 and under had it by the Brake booster.

 

Is it common for the ESC module itself to need replacing or is it probably some component connected with the ESC? (I already replaced the knock sensor)

 

is there a difference betweenthe 305 and 350 ESC on a 91z28. I put a 350 in and changed the chip but not the ESC.

 

I'm not really sure about the ESC difference when it is in the Memcal. I do know that thye are different when it come sto the 89 and under ESC one for the 305 and a different one for the 350 som most likely they are different in the 90 -92 also. So I will guess that yes, the 305 and the 350 use different Memcals.
