L98 Corvette Heads

Would it be worth my time (and money) to put a set of L98 aluminum heads on my car or should I look into another set of aftermarket heads? I have a 1991 RS with a 350.

Are you going to do any work on the Alum. L98 castings? I think it'd be worth your time if you at least did some bowl work and enlarged the valves. Otherwise, stick with the cast irons until you save for a real set of heads like AFR's, Dart, World etc...

It Depends how much your time is worth and how much money you can get them for. If they are brand new and you are paying full price the answer is NO. Definitely look in to other aftermarket brands instead!

I'm thinking about going with the GM fast burn heads along with a ZZ-4 cam.

I think that would turn out to be a pretty good combination. The Fast Burn's have a lot of good power making characteristics worked into them. Do you have an auto or manual tranny? I'm assuming you have a auto and you'll probably want to look into higher stall converters.

I am about to start building a new engine and have been doing a lot of research on heads. The fastburn heads are nice except for the 210cc intake ports, I think that is a little too big for a street 350. IMO the Pro Topline iron lightning heads are the best bang for the buck out their. Their 180cc heads will flow very similar to the fastburns but will allow you to keep a good port velocity.

I see where GM has a ZZ 383 coming out in mid-year. I may wait and see what the cost is on it instead of trying to put an engine together piece by piece.

Do you have any flow numbers on the Pro Topline?

Yeah, their website lists flow numbers for all of their heads. www.protopline.com
