New Mods and Track Results

1/8th Mile Times

Previous best: 8.90 @ 77 mph
New best: 8.76 @ 80.93 mph

Not much et difference, but I think the mph would really help out the qtr times. Never raced qtr. Might be time to make the trek to the nearest local.

Here's the new mods that made the diff.
1) Spohn Sub Frame Connectors: Quality craftsmanship. Nice ride improvement.
2) Walbro fuel pump: Was losing power and mph until the upgrade. Restored power and consistent times prior to header install
3) SLP 1-5/8" shorty headers: I wanted Long tubes, but none made in the 1-5/8" size. I'm a beginner, and the install was pretty straightforward. Just had to have some patience.
4) Exhaust Cutout
5) Taylor Universal Wires: Only screwed up a couple. Nice, clean look afterwards.

The cutout made the big difference. With it on, I ran 79mph and hit low 8.9s and high 8.8s. The cutout took me to 80.93 and 8.76 with only one run.
Will play with timing and fuel pressure this weekend.

Man, can I spin some tires now Just glad all that work was worth it

Glad to hear that you are happy with the results. HITHERE bet it sounds better too since you put the headers on. Did you remove the cats or did you leave them on?

Nice times, and especially mph! HITHERE run an 8.8 at 77-78 with my IROC. Looks like your engine is still running very strong. HITHERE kinda want to get HITHERE cutout now.

edit: Incase you're curious, my bet is that you'd run an 13.5-13.6 in the quarter. No idea on the mph though. Maybe 102-103.

And what's up with the "HITHERE" inserted for some words?

No catalytic converter on the car on any of the listed times.

Don't forget to raise your TPS. This will richen-up as installing headers does tend to lean the motor. My friend and I installed headers at the same time and we took our cars to the track together. I was in-front of him 1-2 car lengths everytime and he couldn't figure out why.

just me 2 cents worth...

BTW....I told him on the way home what his problem was ! ! :lala:

Wouldn't the compter already compensate for the leaness by means of the oxygen sensor? To what voltage are you raising the TPS?

Ancient mythology. Raising your TPS does not richen the mixture any extra, WOT fueling starts at 4V or lower, and thats it, nothing extra to be had there.

I understand I have just joined this forum and don't have alot of replies, and I certainly don't want to forward any dis-respect your way Ed. Our cars ran identical before the header installations. And after I informed him of what I had done to my TPS and he corrected his our cars were almost identically matched once again, except for the .2-.3 tenth improvement.

just my own experience....
