Ram air idea
Ok I have this idea. You know how in order to use the ram airbox that is built for most of the RA I and RA II hoods requires a speed density system as opposed to MAF? Also dual snorkel won't work for MAF cars. According to everything I have found online and from this site.
I am wondering if that could change if the MAF could be relocated to being almost directly infront of the throttle body. I know with some custom duct work and clamps this could be made to happen.
Now my only concern is that heat might be an issue since it will be directly on the front and on the top of the engine more or less. But then the air comming in throught the ram AIR box might be cool enough to keep the MAF from being damaged. Would this work?
And if so why hasn't any one tried this on this site yet? If this won't work I'd like to know why before I screw up my trying this.
In the illustration I have the MAF marked on a SLP cold air kit. I just want to make a custom duct and move it closer to the front of the TB and maybe go with a dual snorkel system similar to what some of the Camaros had. Or go with a custom ram air box. (To be latter installed with a hood)

And here is a pic to illustrate what I would want as the final result.

Sorry I screwed up the attachement. Anyway. Here it is. I just don't want to have to convert to speed density if I don't have to.

Ok so I don't need to convert to SD to get the ram air box to work? And I could do a dual snorkel if I fabed one up myself? If that's the case then I am all set.

ram air box
i have the ram air II hood also w/ the custom air box.
has anyone actually realized that the airbox really doesn't pick up air from the front of the hood? the air hits the front of the airbox, not the filter part. was thinking of making a custom air box, that had the filter turned to the vents, any ideas?

sorry man but it doesnt need to have the filter facing it. it works just fine the way that it is trust me i have it on my car. it gives you ungodly throttle response well at least i felt a diffence with and without it. just whenever i go to the track i take it out so more air can get through but i still have the screens on the MAF so im not to worried about getting trash in it. but if i was your i would leave how it is but thats me

im not sure what year it is but its a corvette in the 80's that had a tpi setup. Its the one i run on my 87, anyways. Use the ducting that comes off the corvette and it will fit perfectly. The one in that picture looks horrible. Try this idea it looks better.
