Runner problem..
Runner problem..
Ok, I have my plenum off for some porting and gasket matching to my SLP runners.. Im also putting in a AFPR, my question is, I took the bolts off the driver side runner and it moves but won't come out, it's hitting something, I think the injector walls, where the injector goes into the intake manifold... Any ideas????

there is another torx bolt that is by the dist. but the head is pointing toward the pass. side ( I----- ) not like the actual noticable bolts that point toward the drivers side ( -------I ) it is difficult to see but you can reach it with a swivel, long extension, rachet, and torx socket. email me at aekr17@aol.com if u need more help.

All 5 bolts on lower porshin of runner are removed.. it is completly seperated from the manifold(about an inch away from where it would usually sit) it moves quite a bit, just doesn't wanna come out..

I couldn't get my driver side SLP runner on or off with the fuel rail bolted down. I had to lift it to get the runner out. I think it was the driver side. In any case, one of the 2 sides needs the rails to be lifted up a tad.

Everything on the induction is metric except the distributer bolt and EGR bolts.

I think the ONLY american bolts left on the car are the ones that hold something to the engine block.

Yeah, you must have some special "americanized" edition that nobody else in the world has. Your car has all the same size stuff ours has. Maybe you just haven't figured out yet why your sockets don't quite fit.dude, why do you have to attach a pic of your car in every single post? It makes it slower than sh*t for those of us on dial up and it wastes server space.

You might work on jets for a living, but Jim and i have been around these cars since the mid 90s and beyond. You're not getting anywhere working on one of these cars without a 7, 10 and 13mm sockets, as well as the occasional oddball 8mm. Thats why we thought it was funny you'd say these are the first metric bolts you've found, because unless all you did on the car was change oil, there is simply no way you weren't turning metric bolts. I cannot think of a single operation you could perform on a thirdgen without finding 99% metric fasteners. Off the top of my head, i think even the heavy suspension stuff is metric - Basically, if it doesn't thread into a piece of american cast iron on one of these things, it's a metric bolt. And it's not like someone could have switched all the metric bolts out for standard, if you work on jets for a living surely you realize that metric and standard threads won't play well. While a 9/16 - 14mm and 1/2 -12mm, etc are pretty close on a wrench, the bolts have nothing in common on the thread end.
I'm not sure what the thread size is on the fuel rail hold down, but the runner bolts are all M8x1.25. If you want to make TPI R&R a lot easier on yourself, run a tap through all the holes while you have it apart to clean 'em up.
