Ported my plenum, heres the video

This was my first plenum porting job ever. tell me how i did and be harsh i need to learn. personally i think it came out good, i didn't hog out the ports or take off any "extra" metal i just sort of removed obstructions and tried to smooth everything out. doing the intake next...

get the video here:

right click, save as. sorry for low quality, geocities max upload is 5 MB...

I used a carbide cutter tip for the die grinder, and dipped it in gear oil constantly. to smooth it out i used a dremel with a stone, a sanding paper, and a wire brush tip, in that order. then i lightly bead blasted it.

Looks smooth. I bought the 90* angle head for my dremmel to get into the runner holes and really flatten out those walls...

It's pretty easy to gasketmatch the openings too while the plenum's off and the dremmel's runnin'...

thw white ball is just a stone tip for the dremel. i had like 10 so i figured i would test them out to see what they did. it was good for smoothing out the original carbide cuts which were not very smooth at all. then sanded it to make it a bit better (dremel sander thing) then the wire brush to make it real smooth.

also i didnt have a 90* anything to get inside the runner ports so i just did as best as i could with the carbide cutter tip and went in sideways. thats why the metal in the middle comes to a sharp point, but i think that wont hurt airflow at all.

I just started my intake manifold, matching it to the gaskets...

wow the intake ports are WAY off from the gaskets. theres a good 1/4" of metal that needs to be removed from each port on both sides to match the gaskets! i cant wait...

heh should i mail that vid to you too?

and thanks for the appraisal!

I like what you did around the runners!! Just my opinion, but the holes where the throttle body don't look round anymore...it looks like the dremel gouged into it a bit, and you smoothed it out...am I just seeing things?? I probably am. here's a pic of mine...I thought you might want do an added mod to help smooth things out a bit. I put "magnum Steel" in the pit areas where you ground out around the throttle body. probably doesn't make sense, so check out the pic. the filler is the gray stuff. You did a great job non the less

I'll be able to host another video if you want. Just send it to me before Sunday. After that....I'm on slow dial up again and won't have access to my hosting account for a good while.
