i need help my car doesnt start
just built a 350 to replace my 305
i seem to remember having the problem 4 years ago in my trans am.
i have compression, i have spark i have fuel pressure, it doesnt start.
one thing ive noticed is that now the fuel pressure drops instead of holding for hours in the guage like it used to?
i have flames coming out of the headers every now and then and a backfire a few times
i believe its 180 out but the expert swears it not
i have gone through wiring multiple times and cant seem to find anything

I would guess your fuel pressure regulator is bad or leaking injectors cause your fuel pressure should stay up for a while...
Could be:
The dizzy - it's 180 out. I've had this happen with almost all my rebuilds. Spin it 180 and see what happens.
Fuel Injectors are screwed - When I put my Accel 24 lb injectors in the O-rings on them BLEW CHUNKS - they wouldn't seal and I was dumping fuel into the intake and lost fuel pressure FAST once I stopped turning over the car.
Valves - I was that guy that OVER tightened his valvelash so that none of my cylinders had any compression. Stoopid, I know.
I also tried to start my car with my ECM power wire disconnected by the battery.
Another dumb move on my part.
Try looking at those and see what happens.

Maybe nobody is replying because it could be pretty much anything. "just took car apart and rebuilt and now it doesn't work" is pretty vague, no? Maybe you didn't put something back together right? I know it's a reach, but ?
