Was this the first time out with the new combination or did you go through alot of tuning? Any suspension or tire changes for the drop in 60' time? Anyway, I think it's quick.

I'm using the afr 190s, lingenfelter 219 cam and edelbrocks tes headers with a superram. No tuning at all. The chip I'm using is from the car when I still had the 350. No suspension work at all and yes, it was the first time out with the 383. Hopefully 11s right around the corner!!

Sorry about that, I am using a set of M&H racemaster tires on the rear.

No. A local guy burned it for the 350, but it seems to work pretty good in the 383.

Nice, it definately looks like 11s are around the corner! Just some improvement in the 60 ft and you're there.

What kind of car are you running and what are your other mods such as rear gearing, stall, etc.? I've got the same parts on a 383 shortblock, which should used as a boat anchor in it's current state rather than as the foundation of a hi-perf. engine. I just posted my new time from the track, I think my rings are in about a hundred pieces, each.

Did you build your 383 or buy the whole thing? Does it pass emissions? I am curious because I am planning to drop a 383 in my car. I need to know how to make the most power and be able to pass emissions.

It's a '88 Iroc. Stock 3.27 gears, no suspension work done yet. I took the 350 out and took it to mickey at NAC. He does alot of IRL motors for the indy guys. Anyway, he did the short block for me. I used the KB pistons with the 5.7 rods and scat 9000 crank. He decked the block. The KBs I picked out have a 16cc dish, along with the 58cc AFR's, it works out to right at 10.4 cr. I put a Transgo kit in the 700 tranny along with the 2800 PI converter. The car is a torque monster to say the least.

Wow. There are several people on these boards that have extremely similar setups (some with suspension mods) and 12.1 is by far the best I've seen. You went from 13.06 to a 12.1 and all you did was change the motor from a 350 to a 383?

Danny T.,

Went from the 350 to the 383 along with the PI2800 converter, everything else came of the 350 to go on the 383.

JohnnyIroc,

I'm shifting around 5600. I've never had a engine before like this one that is instant rpm's. I think it's more the PI converter that gives the extremely fast r's. If yours revs as fast as this one does, you better be ready with that next gear!! Let me know how you fair at the track.

first and second gear are rediculously quick with this motor, so im just trying to find the right shift point now. Next week im getting the car dyno tuned so ill let you all know what she puts out, and next weekend ill have the car at the track.
